Peripherals, much like the human body, receive commandments and must send the commandment to the correct area.  If one’s hand feels the heat of a flame, and feels as if they are being burned, then the hand sends a signal to the brain, and the brain sends a signal back to the hand to tell the hand to move away.  This is one example of how these two processes work in a similar way of sending commands to one area and then a second command being sent to another location to execute the final request.

The Peripherals are the tools that transfer information and commands from the outside world into the CPU of the computer and transfers the information from the inside of the computer to the outside to produce results.  The tools that send information into the computer include the keyboard, the mouse, the touchscreen, a pen tablet, a joystick, MIDI keyboard, a scanner, a digital camera, a video camera, and the microphone.  Each of these tools are able to receive different commandments and to fill them out, it sends the information into the computer. Common output devices that receive commandments from the computer and fulfill the requested commandments are monitors, projectors, TV screens, printers, plotters, and speakers.  There are also a few devices that are able to function as both input and output devices, such as external hard drives, media card readers, digital camcorders, digital mixers, and MIDI equipment.

The CPU takes in the information from the input device and sends a following command to the output device and the output device is able to fill out the command.  The peripherals require commandments from humans and the outputs that they most often produce results that are in the form of a printed paper, on a screen, or audible.  These devices are all separate from the CPU, but all work with it and are connected to it.  Without a CPU these helpful devices are useless and they cannot function at all.
